How And Why To Use Pre-selling In Affiliate Marketing

By: ove nordkvist

Affiliate marketing can make a nice income if done right. The most important part of affiliate marketing you have to learn is pre-selling. It's about establishing a relationship with your web site visitors and getting them to realize that they really need the product or service before they click ahead to the merchant's sales page.

Pre-selling is one of the most misunderstood and underestimated skills of an affiliate marketer. A common mistake many newcomers make is to actually try to sell the product, you have to leave that to the merchant.

Your task as an affiliate marketer is different from the merchant's. You do the Pre-selling, the merchant do the selling. Your job is to attract targeted traffic and try to turn them into a buying mode, when they click trough to the merchants site they are ready for the merchants product offering.

Pre-selling is all about the content you present to your visitors. The web surfers look for useful information and that's what you need to provide. Therefor you must know who your audience will be, what the concerns or problems could be.

Write as you are the reader's friend. Don't do any hard sell, but only sprinkle your affiliate recommendations in your content.

You can achieve credibility by showing the visitor that you understand him and can help him. (You already know why he's visiting your site) Speak the language of your target market. Write your content from that perspective. Make sure your information agrees with the product information and message the merchant gives in his sales page. That part will be easy if you choose to promote a product or service you really believe in, but that's another issue.

When you have written your content, try to look at it with the visitor's eyes, think of what your visitor want to find out by visiting your site, read whit that perspective in mind. Hopefully, your content will give the visitor the feeling that he can trust you and your recommendations.

If you can provide the information the visitor is looking for at your web site, it's likely he'll trust you and follow your suggestions.

Learn how to Pre-sell and you have big chances of success in affiliate marketing. Visitors that believe in your good intentions are more likely to accept your recommendation to visit the merchant's sale page. Once you master the art of pre-selling you can expect much higher conversion rates than if you simply send visitors unprepared to the merchant's selling page.
