Gift baskets make a great gift for any occasion including Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, and even baby showers. You can buy ready made gift baskets but you will likely pay a premium price for them. Making your own allows you to save money and it ensures the items you place in the gift basket are exactly what the recipient will be happy to have.

Before your start your gift basket make a list of the items you want to place in it. The size of your basket is going to depend on what all you are going to place in it so that is often the last item you want to purchase. You can get a gift basket out of wicker, with handles, or even a wicker laundry basket. Be creative when it comes to your basket. For a man in your life you can even use a durable bucket and place various car cleaning supplies in it.

You want the items in your gift basket to be organized in a very attractive manner. If you have too many items in the gift basket it will appear cluttered and unorganized. Make sure heavier items are on the bottom so that lighter ones don't get smashed during transit. Once you have secured all of the items in the basket you are ready to wrap it.

Use a large piece of cellophane wrap that you can purchase at a craft store. They come in various colors including clear so you can customize the colors for the occasion if you desire. Wrap the cellophane from the bottom of the basket and tie it at the top with a very pretty bow or some ribbon.

Giving a gift basket for any occasion is a great gift. It shows that you have taken the time to choose items that are special to that person. It can include a theme for their favorite hobby such as fishing or scrapbooking. It can also include their favorite movies and some microwave popcorn.

Gift baskets have a great look to them that appears you have spend hours working on their gift. In reality though it is very easy to put a gift basket together and wrap it up. It is more cost effective than having a gift basket made for you because you get to control the items that go in it as well as the cost.
