Increase Productivity with a White Noise Machine

Workplace productivity is a big problem for many people who work in an office environment. For employees, the inability to concentrate due to constant workplace noise can hinder personal advancement goals. One way that many are winning this battle of concentration is by using a white noise machine to effectively block out the distracting background noise at the root of the distraction.

How a white noise machine works in the office
A white noise machine has a sound similar to a fan but the process to achieve that sound is much more complex. The white noise machine works by combining all of the audible sounds in range of the human ear and playing them simultaneously. As a result, background noise becomes “absorbed” by the sound of the white noise machine.

The machine is small, unobtrusive, and the sound isn’t loud enough to hear beyond a cubicle. The sound it created by a white noise machine is that of a gentle hum that is not distractive or disruptive. The effect is called sound “masking.” Rather than producing another distractive noise like a radio to cover up the unwanted noise, a white noise machine absorbs background noise in much the same way that white light absorbs the light of many colors.

A very real issue
Many people secretly suffer at work because of their lack of ability to concentrate in the workplace, feeling that they should be able to just ignore the constant distraction. Lack of concentration is a very real issue for people who are more sensitive to noises. White noise machines are best known for their ability to help people with hypersensitivity to sound fall asleep and stay asleep amid nighttime noises. This same sensitivity to sound carries over in the workplaces as well, thus the use of a white noise machine has become popular for office use as well.

A great number of people have goals and dreams of excelling at work but leave the office each day wondering where the time went and why they weren’t able to complete the tasks they set out to do each day. In an office, especially in a cubicle environment, one of the most distracting noises are the voices of an office full of people. It can be nearly impossible to concentrate in the midst of a coworker’s conversation in close proximity. A white noise machine dissipates the sound of murmur of voices as well as the random sounds of doors opening and closing, footsteps, and ambient voices.

There is no reason why anyone should continue suffering at work because of lack of concentration. A white noise machine can greatly impact the ability to concentrate on the task at hand without being distracted by office noise pollution. In a world that has become increasingly louder and less peaceful, a white noise machine offers a space in which to concentrate and focus.
